Writing Partners

Our volunteer writing partners are people of different ages, life stages and religious, cultural and education backgrounds. They share the desire to learn more about the Holocaust and support survivors in telling their stories in the manner that was meaningful to them.

I feel honoured and grateful to have met and worked with two wonderful women survivors, Helen Roth (My Mother’s Words) and Lea Hochman (The Miracle of Hashem). They shared their histories, lives and life lessons with me. They taught me much I didn’t know and moved me deeply. While the details of their personal experiences are different, they were both strong, resilient, brave and determined. I came to admire them for these traits and their warmth.

As a former teacher, I believe that we learn best by real stories passed down through the generations. This is the goal of the Sustaining Memories project and I feel privileged to have been a part of it. Thank you also to the Azrieli Foundation staff and their partner organizations for the excellent training sessions, coaching and motivation.
